How to access the memory card on a HTC Droid
HTC manufactures two Droid devices for sale to customers of Verizon , the Droid Eris and Droid Incredible . Both devices come with internal memory cards to store contact information, photographs, documents and installed applications. Although normally inaccessible , you can open the phone memory through file manager app like ASTRO or by connecting the device to a computer . Although the Droid Eris and Droid Incredible have slightly different hardware configurations , both running the Android operating system , and this process is the same for both phones.Instructions
ASTRO Memory Access
- Tap the icon "Market " to open the Android Market application . This program requires a network connection to download new programs , either through service provider connection or through a local Wi-Fi network .
- Tap the magnifying glass icon in the upper right and type " ASTRO " in the search box . Touch the result Metago " ASTRO File Manager" . Metago also offers a paid version called " ASTRO File Manager Pro" , which removes the ads support the application.
- Tap " Install Free " and then select " OK " . Wait for the system to download and install the program. The notification bar shows the progress of the download.
- Open the Droid Applications menu and tap the icon " ASTRO " to access the device memory . Touch a folder to view its contents and press the "Back" button to return to the previous Lcd . Tap and hold down on a folder or file for additional options.
Computer Connection
- Plug the Droid to a computer using the USB charging cable included with the phone . When the USB connection Lcd on the phone Lcd, press " Turn on USB storage " .
- Navigate to " My Computer " in Windows or OS X desktop to see the connected device. The phone appears as an external storage drive . Double click the icon to access Drod memory . You can create new folders and drag items to or from the device as you would a flash drive attached .
- Wait for any transfer in progress to complete before disconnecting . Tap on the " Turn off USB storage " on the phone Lcd when finished.
